What is AnkiLock?

AnkiLock is a study-first device-usage management system that helps you build consistent flashcard habits. It combines an Anki Desktop add-on that tracks and uploads your daily “cards studied” count, with an iOS app that blocks your selected apps until you reach your review goal. By enforcing “study before play,” AnkiLock ensures you complete your Anki flashcards each day before regaining access to social media, games, or any other apps you choose.

How It Works

Choose Apps to Block: Pick which iOS apps stay locked until you finish your daily reviews.
Sync with Anki Desktop: Automatically upload your flashcard review count.
Study First: Regain access only after hitting your review target, reinforcing good habits.

Get Started

Install the AnkiLock iOS app from the App Store.
In Anki Desktop go to Tools → Add-Ons → Install from Code, enter 1165281739, and restart Anki.
Open Tools → AnkiLock → Sign In in Anki Desktop and log in with your account.

Important Note

The add-on runs on desktop only. Your iOS app will sync data only when you sync cards via Anki Desktop. Make sure you open and sync Anki at least once per day to keep everything up to date.
